Guess I never posted the solution here. I was running Safari Adblock. It was being a little too strict with the off-site links and blocking the Disqus comment block. It's a fairly simple fix, I just had to go disable Safari Adblock for any elements from disqus.com.

If you are using Disqus you don't need to do anything but to activate plugin. One problem i found and solved was with the CSS the light blue strip where they show profile image goes up and the image goes down but somehow i have managed it.

To sum up Disquss looks promising to me.

The problem I had was that I still had hosting set up on my root level domain (Which is where I'm using tumblr) . I had to go delete the web hosting for it and then it worked fine.

I have been experiencing a few problems with my local cable company as well, but nothing like this. To be fair, I'm giving up the cable everything and going to DSL/DirecTV starting next week. More channels, save some money. Good luck with Comcast.

Haven't tried the SDK yet. Didn't feel like going through the registration process. I've found using the iPhone on Edge really depends on where you are. In Indianapolis/North Suburbs it's not horrible. About like 512Kbps DSL. Other places it's as bad as dial-up.

The obvious good news here is that things are working well after such a long battle. From my experience, the current iPhone CRAWLS on AT&Ts slow network, so here's hoping that a new 3G version will appear in June and make owning worthwhile. Have you played with the SDK at all?

Ok, so it seems that the Disqus comments aren't working in Safari? Is this a problem on my end or an all around issue. I'm using Safari 3.1 on OS X 10.5.2.

You can change the Disqus settings so that your old comments stay intact. You can find this under Comments > Disqus.

Choose the second option.

I think the two things that will be nice are:

1. I can log in with one account to any blog using Disqus. That will be super-helpful. I don't know how many Wordpress sites I drop by and want to comment on, but the owner has register/log-in as a requirement to try and prevent spam. Or just because they don't know any better.

2. It can help drive traffic to your site based on the amount of people commenting. Users of the main disqus.com site will see it (Digg-like, I suppose) and might end up at my page because of interest in a topic I posted about it.

Re: the pwning of the current comments, I was really hoping that wouldn't happen. Sure enough, they are all still there, just not accessible. I wonder when someone will build out a fix to that. I'm sure somebody will, based solely on the amount of people who use Wordpress.
